PETALING JAYA, April 11 — The government will retable key constitutional amendments at the next Dewan Rakyat sitting beginning June 22.

Including proposals to separate the roles of the attorney-general and public prosecutor, as well as to limit the prime minister’s tenure.

Law and Institutional Reform Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the move is part of Phase II of the Madani Accountability Framework running from May to August.

The reforms aim to strengthen transparency and governance, alongside new initiatives such as the Ombudsman Malaysia Bill and a Freedom of Information Act.

An anti-bullying tribunal will also be introduced this month. The proposed amendments previously fell short of the required two-thirds majority, receiving 146 votes.

The government remains committed to reintroducing the measures to build a more accountable and resilient system.
