PUTRAJAYA, April 11 — Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation is encouraging Malaysians to adopt the Time of Use (ToU) electricity scheme.

To reduce living costs and improve energy efficiency. The scheme offers lower tariffs during off-peak hours and higher rates during peak periods.

Allowing users to save by adjusting their daily electricity usage patterns. Under ToU, peak hours typically run from 2pm to 10pm on weekdays.

While off-peak periods include nights, weekends and public holidays. As of February 2026, over 128,000 users have adopted the scheme.

The government says ToU supports smarter energy use, reduces peak demand pressure and aligns with national sustainability goals.
