GEORGE TOWN, April 11 — Penang Digital Library has cancelled a scheduled anti-Azam Baki ceramah, stating the programme did not meet its educational criteria and touched on sensitive issues.
The library confirmed that while an initial booking was made for a community lecture, further review found the content unrelated to education or self-improvement.
As a STEM-focused institution located within a school area, it stressed that all events must align with educational objectives and maintain a suitable environment for users.
The event, which was set to address the shareholding controversy involving Azam Baki, had drawn criticism from organisers including Malaysian United Democratic Alliance.
They argued there were no clear guidelines barring such talks. The session will now proceed at an alternative venue, COEX @Kilang Besi, later today.
