KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 — The government has called for discussions on ethical standards in reporting graphic accident and tragedy footage, following public complaints.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the Malaysian Media Council and Malaysian Press Institute should lead efforts to establish balanced guidelines for the media industry.

Fahmi noted that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has received complaints about uncensored accident videos shared on social media.

Which may cause emotional distress, especially among younger viewers. He stressed the need to balance responsible reporting with public access to information.
