GEORGE TOWN, April 13 — Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal fire at a two-storey law office building on Lebuh King in George Town.
Which claimed the lives of two elderly victims earlier today. On behalf of the Penang state government, he extended condolences to the families and expressed hope that they find strength during this difficult time.
Chow, who is also the ADUN for Padang Kota, said the state takes the incident seriously and will work closely with the Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia to ensure a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the fire.
He added that improvements to fire safety measures, particularly in older buildings and high-risk areas, would be considered.
He also urged building owners and the public to maintain proper fire safety systems, including clear emergency exits and regular safety drills.
