PUTRAJAYA, April 15 – The Malaysian government has unveiled a rail-focused relief package featuring discounted fares and new monthly passes to help commuters manage rising fuel costs.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the initiative aims to promote greater use of public transport while improving affordability.

Under the plan, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad will offer a 30% discount on Electric Train Service (ETS) tickets across all routes, as well as reduced fares for the Ekspres Rakyat Timuran service, valid for selected travel periods until October 2026.

In addition, Express Rail Link will introduce targeted monthly passes, including MyPutrajaya and MyKLIA, offering savings of up to 90% with unlimited travel for eligible users.

The measures are part of a broader strategy to strengthen rail as a primary transport mode, helping Malaysians reduce daily expenses while supporting a more sustainable and efficient public transport system.
