PUTRAJAYA, April 16 — The government has directed the Ministry of Finance Malaysia to review the targeted diesel subsidy mechanism, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
The move follows a Cabinet instruction by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, with findings expected to be presented at an upcoming Cabinet or National Economic Action Council meeting.
Fahmi also announced that the Cabinet has agreed to increase the biodiesel blending rate from B10 to B15, starting with B12, as part of efforts to strengthen energy resilience.
The transition will utilise existing infrastructure and is not expected to incur additional costs. Authorities said facilities supporting higher biodiesel blends are already available in several regions.
As the government continues to explore long-term sustainable energy strategies.
