BUKIT MERTAJAM, April 16 — Several roads in Taman Siakap, Seberang Jaya, will be temporarily closed this Saturday from 8.30am to 12.30pm for the Penang 2026 CBRNE Hazardous Material simulation exercise.
The drill is organised by the Penang State Secretary’s Office in collaboration with Petronas Gas Berhad to enhance emergency preparedness.
Affected routes include Lorong Siakap 7, 9 to 18, and Tingkat Siakap 11. Residents are advised to remove their vehicles before 8.30am, as no traffic will be allowed during the exercise.
Authorities said the simulation aims to strengthen inter-agency coordination and improve response capabilities, particularly for incidents involving gas pipeline leaks and other hazardous scenarios.
