GEORGE TOWN, April 17 — The Penang government has welcomed the Federal Government’s commitment to implement the Juru–Sungai Dua Toll Plaza Traffic Decongestion Project (PTJSD).

Which is expected to ease long-standing congestion along the North–South Expressway corridor in the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the project is already underway with Package 1 physical works in progress since October last year.

While Packages 2 to 5 are expected to begin construction in the third quarter of this year. The full project, which involves multiple phases.

Is targeted for completion by 2030 and is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce congestion affecting over 200,000 vehicles daily.

And support economic activity in surrounding areas including Perai, Bukit Mertajam and Permatang Pauh.
