BUTTERWORTH, April 17 — A local man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault incident in Telok Ayer Tawar on April 12, according to Royal Malaysia Police.
The victim was reportedly attacked by an acquaintance at a vehicle workshop along Jalan Besar and sustained severe injuries. He is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Seberang Jaya.
Police said the suspect was detained on April 15 in the Butterworth area, with initial screenings indicating drug use.
Authorities also revealed the suspect has prior criminal and drug-related records. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
With the suspect remanded for seven days to assist investigations. Police have urged the public to refrain from speculation.
