PETALING JAYA, April 18 — United Malays National Organisation (Umno) has approved the unconditional return of key figures including Khairy Jamaluddin, Hishammuddin Hussein and Syed Hamid Albar.
Alongside 6,252 former leaders and members. Secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirmed the decision following a Supreme Council meeting in Melaka, under the “Rumah Bangsa” initiative.
The move reflects the party’s open-door policy championed by president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, aimed at strengthening unity ahead of upcoming elections.
The council also approved amendments to enable online membership registration, targeting youth engagement.
Umno further urged states under its leadership to enhance targeted assistance amid rising living costs, while outlining major programmes for its 80th anniversary celebrations in Kuala Lumpur next month.
