TASEK GELUGOR, April 18 — Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on all states to establish halal industry parks to strengthen Malaysia’s domestic halal ecosystem.

He noted that while every state has a Halal Industry Development Council, not all have successfully developed their own halal industries, urging faster action and implementation.

Speaking at the Perda Halal Park Phase 2 groundbreaking, Zahid highlighted states like Penang as benchmarks and encouraged others to build larger, more impactful parks.

He added that the halal sector could contribute up to 15% of Malaysia’s GDP by 2030, stressing the need to diversify beyond food and beverage.

Which currently generates over RM34 billion but represents only a small share of total halal exports.
