MANJUNG, April 20 — Vale has appointed Edwin Gerard as Chief Executive Officer of its local unit, marking the first time a Malaysian leads its operations in the country.
With over 25 years of experience in logistics and port management, Edwin will oversee Vale’s strategic hub in Malaysia, which distributes about 20 million tonnes of iron ore annually.
The appointment reflects Vale’s commitment to local talent development, with over 95% of its Malaysian workforce supporting operations at the Teluk Rubiah Maritime Terminal.
The company has invested around RM80 million in community initiatives since 2014 and aims to further strengthen partnerships while advancing sustainable and reliable operations in the region.
