PETALING JAYA, April 23 — Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has announced that he will personally select the next chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Stressing that the appointment should not be politicised. His Majesty said the role is crucial to ensure the commission continues to function effectively in combating corruption, abuse of power and misconduct.
The decision signals that the tenure of current chief commissioner Azam Baki, whose term ends on May 12, will not be extended.
Sultan Ibrahim emphasised that the best candidate will be chosen to uphold the integrity and effectiveness of Malaysia’s key anti-graft institution.
