SHAH ALAM, April 23 — Wong Siew Ki has urged authorities to treat pig farming on par with other livestock industries, stressing that issues such as pollution, hygiene, and public health risks are not unique to one sector.
Speaking in the state assembly, she highlighted that the matter also touches on the principle of equality under the Federal Constitution, calling for fair and balanced policy considerations.
Wong proposed that Selangor explore modern, closed-system pig farming methods, including zero-discharge systems and biogas recycling technology.
Which have been successfully implemented elsewhere. She said such innovations could minimise environmental impact while strengthening food security, warning that overreliance on imports could pose long-term risks to supply stability.
