BATU KAWAN, April 25 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to strengthen professionalism and integrity.

Stressing that the agency operates under constant public scrutiny. Speaking at JPJ’s 80th anniversary celebration.

He highlighted the challenges officers face in balancing firm enforcement with public expectations, especially in the age of social media and heightened accountability.

Anwar also called on the Ministry of Transport Malaysia to explore lowering road tax for diesel vehicles amid rising fuel costs.

While fuel price reductions are not feasible, he said tax adjustments could ease the burden on about 1.8 million diesel vehicle owners.

Authorities are currently assessing the financial implications and potential revenue impact before making a decision.
