JOHOR BAHRU, April 25 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government has not discussed postponing the upcoming Johor and Melaka state elections.
Despite concerns over the current energy supply situation linked to tensions in West Asia. He noted that any decision on election timing or coalition participation will be deliberated at a later stage.
The issue has drawn mixed responses from political leaders, with calls for postponement needing careful consideration of legal timelines and implications.
However, no official polling dates have been announced by the Election Commission of Malaysia, while the Melaka and Johor state assembly terms are set to end in December 2026 and April 2027 respectively.
