GEORGE TOWN, April 25 — The Penang LRT Mutiara Line project is progressing on schedule, with construction for its first package actively underway, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
He dismissed claims of political interference affecting the project timeline, explaining that works such as pier construction must be completed before subsequent phases can begin.
Chow clarified that the Penang state government is not involved in the tender process for Package Two, which is managed by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation.
The nearly 30km line, linking Silicon Island to George Town and Penang Sentral, remains on track as authorities continue evaluating bids before final approvals.
