KEPALA BATAS, April 27 — Global instability driven by the Middle East conflict is impacting Malaysia’s economy, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), says Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.

He noted that supply chain disruptions, trade tensions and rising costs are affecting local businesses, with Malaysia’s open economy making it vulnerable to global shocks.

The government is rolling out targeted measures, including the RM15 billion PowerUp 10K initiative and RM100 million in capacity-building programmes to support 100,000 entrepreneurs.

Engagements with banks and stakeholders are ongoing to improve financing access, while efforts are also underway to strengthen e-commerce support and enhance MSME resilience.
