CYBERJAYA, April 28 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has recorded the statement of the administrator of a Facebook account named “Huayan The Pureland Learning Centre.”
To assist investigations into an alleged offensive post involving the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
MCMC, in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), is investigating the case under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Sedition Act 1948 and Section 504 of the Penal Code. The commission said the content was deemed highly offensive and could affect public harmony and confidence in national institutions.
It stressed that strict action will be taken against any misuse of social media involving sensitive 3R issues (race, religion and royalty), urging the public to use online platforms responsibly and ethically.
