GEORGE TOWN, April 28 — Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow reaffirmed Penang’s commitment to sustainable industrial growth at the Penang Green Industry Forum 2026.
He stressed that sustainability is now a business necessity, especially as global supply chains face disruptions from geopolitical tensions and energy uncertainties.
He announced the rollout of SHIFT under the Penang Green Industry Programme, alongside tools like COSIRI and a Climate Mitigation Fund to support industries, particularly SMEs.
In adopting low-carbon practices. Chow emphasised that collaboration between government, industry and financial institutions is key to ensuring Penang remains a competitive and resilient manufacturing hub.
