PUTRAJAYA, April 28 — Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has consented to proceed with the Sukan Malaysia 2026 in Selangor from August 15 to 24, with a focus on prudent spending.
The decision followed discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, prioritising opportunities for young athletes to compete at a national level.
Youth and Sports Minister Mohammed Taufiq Johari expressed gratitude for the approval, noting SUKMA’s role in preparing athletes for the upcoming SEA Games.
The Selangor government has pledged full cooperation, with further updates expected after a special SUKMA committee meeting later this month.
