GEORGE TOWN, April 29 — The Penang government said efforts to resolve the long-standing Waterfall Cafe issue have failed after repeated negotiations and rejected relocation offers since 1990.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state had offered alternative sites, including temporary and permanent relocation options linked to the Bukit Bendera cable car project.
But all proposals were declined. Despite multiple notices and agreements since 2023, the cafe reportedly did not comply with eviction directives issued by the land office.
The state said enforcement action was carried out after all avenues for settlement were exhausted.
