MELAKA, April 30 — Parti Islam Se-Malaysia has announced plans to contest 16 out of 28 seats in the upcoming Melaka state election.
Signalling an expanded strategy ahead of the polls expected later this year. Melaka PAS commissioner Zulkifli Ismail said the party has identified key constituencies.
Most of which are currently held by Barisan Nasional. He added that candidates will be selected based on credibility, integrity and leadership qualities, in line with directives from PAS central leadership.
The move marks a significant increase from the eight seats PAS contested in the 2021 election. With the Melaka State Legislative Assembly term ending in December.
The announcement sets the stage for a competitive contest as parties gear up for the next state polls.
