KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 – Anwar Ibrahim has announced a new Post-Maternity Leave Allowance (EPCB) under the Employment Insurance System Act to support working mothers.
Benefiting over 132,000 women nationwide. The initiative provides up to 30 days of financial assistance after the existing 98-day maternity leave.
With payments proposed at 80% of the employee’s salary. The move aims to address workforce dropouts among women, particularly those aged 25 to 29.
Where maternity responsibilities are a key factor. Anwar said the policy reflects the government’s commitment to empowering women.
And strengthening workforce participation through better postnatal support.
