KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 — Khairy Jamaluddin says the recent rise in young people joining Umno reflects the perception that the party remains one of Malaysia’s most stable political organisations.
Speaking at a meet-and-greet session, he said Umno’s long track record in government and administrative experience continue to appeal to younger voters and new members.
Khairy dismissed claims that the surge in membership was driven by influential personalities, saying it was the result of collective party efforts and improved access through online registration.
He noted that thousands of new members under 40 have joined recently, adding that the simplified application process has made it easier for youth to become part of the party’s structure.
