KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 — Negeri Sembilan Umno will defer any decision on the menteri besar’s position to the leadership of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Following its withdrawal of support, said state Umno chief Jalaluddin Alias. He said the party is prepared to follow whatever direction is decided.
Including the possibility of Umno serving in the opposition until the next general election. Jalaluddin described the situation as “extraordinary” after 14 Umno assemblymen withdrew support on April 27.
Saying it stemmed from governance issues affecting political stability and state institutions. He added that the move was not about power or “tebuk atap”.
But about principles and accountability, stressing that Umno would continue to act in line with its leadership’s final decision.
