KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 — Mohamad Hasan warned that United Malays National Organisation must undergo major reinvention or risk becoming irrelevant, as the party marked its 80th anniversary.
He acknowledged declining Malay support and said Umno can no longer rely on legacy, stressing the need to reconnect with voters and adapt to evolving political dynamics.
He emphasised a shift towards flexible, data-driven strategies, calling modern elections a “war of data.” Mohamad also cautioned against internal divisions, urging unity ahead of upcoming polls.
Despite past setbacks, he said Umno remains vital to Malaysia’s stability, but its future depends on aligning with national aspirations and changing voter expectations.
