ISKANDAR PUTERI, May 3 – Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Ismail has renewed his call for 25 per cent of Johor’s income tax revenue to be returned to the state.

Saying it would reduce reliance on the federal government and improve delivery of development and welfare services.

He said Johor, as a major national revenue contributor, deserves a fairer share to manage growing needs more efficiently.

Speaking at the Johor state legislative assembly session, he highlighted the state’s strong economic performance.

Including RM272 billion in investments over four years and RM110 billion recorded in 2025. He said Johor’s revenue continues to rise.

Supported by major initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, and stressed that greater fiscal autonomy would help the state sustain momentum and better serve its people.
