KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — The British Council has selected a UK–Malaysia team to represent the British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2027, marking 70 years of diplomatic ties.
Led by Dr Guan Lee and Mike Lim, the project explores impermanence, diaspora and cultural transformation through architecture.
Inspired by Malaysia’s Hungry Ghost Festival, the installation will draw on ritual paper structures crafted with Penang artisans.
The exhibition will examine how migration reshapes traditions, positioning architecture as a living, evolving practice while strengthening cultural exchange on a global stage.
