KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — The prosecution has applied to amend a corruption charge against Lim Guan Eng by removing the word “received” from the first count.

Related to the Penang undersea tunnel project. Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin said the amendment aligns with Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.

Which does not require proof of receipt but focuses on gratification linked to a purpose. The alleged sum of RM3.3 million remains unchanged.

However, Lim’s defence, led by Ramkarpal Singh, objected to the move, arguing it could prejudice the case, especially given the late stage of proceedings.

Sessions Court Judge Azura Alwi has set tomorrow for both sides to present arguments. The trial continues with witness testimonies in the RM6.3 billion undersea tunnel project case.
