KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — A total of 34 media organisations have received RM12.38 million under the first phase of the Media Innovation Fund to accelerate digital transformation efforts.
Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Chingsaid the initiative is part of a RM30 million allocation aimed at strengthening the industry’s resilience.
Each organisation can receive up to RM300,000 for training, technology adoption, infrastructure, and content development.
She added that further phases are underway, with Phase Five opening until May 14. Teo also highlighted the role of Malaysian Media Council in enhancing accountability.
Noting seven complaints received so far, with five resolved. Authorities including police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers still retain jurisdiction over criminal investigations involving media cases.
