GEORGE TOWN, May 7 — Water levels at Sungai Muda have returned to a safe range following several days of consistent rainfall.

Cccording to Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang. Chief executive officer K. Pathmanathan said the river level has risen above two metres, ensuring sufficient supply to meet current demand.

The river, a key raw water source for Penang, had previously dropped to a concerning 1.27 metres last month, partly due to upstream irrigation releases in Kedah.

Despite the improved conditions, PBAPP cautioned against complacency as rainfall is المتوقع to decline in the coming months.

Water levels at Air Itam Dam and Teluk Bahang Dam are also trending lower, while the Expanded Mengkuang Dam remains stable.

As a precaution, PBAPP will increase raw water transfer from Sungai Muda to Penang Island from 420 million litres per day by an additional 20 MLD to ensure continued supply during the anticipated dry season.
