GEORGE TOWN, May 8 – Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak today highlighted the state’s strong economic resilience and sustainable development agenda.
While officiating the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Penang State Legislative Assembly. In his address, he said Penang recorded RM63.96 billion in approved investments in 2025.
Driven mainly by the electrical and electronics (E&E) and ICT sectors, while total trade surged 17.9 per cent to RM956.37 billion.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening food security, energy efficiency, digital economy growth and fiscal discipline amid global uncertainties.
The Governor said Penang continues to strengthen its position as a regional digital and technology hub through the Digital Economy Master Plan 2025–2030.
Targeting a 35 per cent contribution to the state GDP by 2030 and 50,000 high-skilled jobs. He also highlighted major infrastructure and sustainability initiatives.
Including the Mutiara LRT Line, Penang International Airport expansion, water security projects, smart city initiatives and conservation efforts.
Tun Ahmad Fuzi added that Penang was recognised as Malaysia’s best state to live in for 2026, reflecting balanced growth, quality public services and strong investor confidence.
