KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching stressed that news accuracy must remain a priority despite increasing pressure on media organisations.

With 464 pieces of false content linked to the global supply crisis identified between March 29 and April 30, of which 312 were removed.
Teo said credible media organisations play a critical role in ensuring verified reporting as fake content, impersonation and AI-generated misinformation continue to rise.
She added that journalism must retain its human values despite technological advancements, with AI serving only as a support tool.
Teo also highlighted the Media Innovation Fund, which has channelled millions of ringgit to local media organisations.
And called for stronger media ethics through the Malaysian Media Council to safeguard journalism standards and public trust.
