KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi dismissed opposition criticism over a recent entertainment event in Bukit Bintang.
Saying Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) did not perform better when previously in government. He also clarified that Umno is not rejecting Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun outright.
But objecting to alleged interference in the state’s adat and royal affairs. Speaking after launching the National Social Policy Action Plan 2026-2030.
Zahid also revealed the government is studying a proposed “filial responsibility” law that would legally require children to care for ageing parents.
He said the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development has been tasked with preparing a policy paper within six months.
Adding that any future law would be aligned with Malaysia’s cultural, religious and social values.
