GEORGE TOWN, May 13 – Anthony Loke Siew Fook has received an open invitation from the Kampung Kolam branch of Democratic Action Party (DAP) in Penang to contest in the state.
Making it the first DAP branch in Penang to formally pass such a resolution. The decision was made unanimously during its annual general meeting.
Reflecting growing support within the grassroots for the party secretary-general to play a direct role in Penang politics.
The resolution, proposed by former Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik and seconded by branch leaders, stated that Loke’s leadership could strengthen DAP’s electoral position.
And address internal challenges such as factionalism and leadership consistency. The branch also passed motions urging the party to contest more state seats.
Prioritise local candidates from Tanjong, and introduce a three-term limit for elected positions to encourage leadership renewal.
