KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 — A Bangladeshi construction worker who admitted to molesting five women at LRT and MRT stations in Kuala Lumpur has been sentenced by the High Court to 18 months’ jail and one stroke of the cane.
Md Romjan Ali, 41, committed the offences between April 10 and 25 at several public transport locations, targeting victims aged between 21 and 28, including a German woman.
The court replaced earlier Magistrates’ Court sentences after prosecutors sought a tougher punishment to reflect the seriousness of the offences.
In a separate case, Shah Alam police confirmed that a man wanted for allegedly confining and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in Bukit Kemuning.
Has a previous criminal record involving rape, robbery and wrongful confinement. Police said the suspect had served a prison sentence in 2008.
The teenager reportedly escaped by freeing himself and shouting for help from an apartment window.
