GEORGE TOWN, May 14 – The Penang state government has clarified that under the Strata Management Act 2013.
Local councils have limited direct enforcement powers over individual strata owners, with responsibility resting mainly on Joint Management Bodies and Management Corporations.
In a written reply, officials said these bodies are responsible for maintenance, by-laws and enforcement within strata schemes, while disputes can be brought to the Strata Management Tribunal.
The state also updated the status of a mixed development proposal in Gelugor, noting it has been required to undergo traffic, social and environmental impact assessments.
And referral to the National Physical Planning Council. Authorities said key reports are still under review, and the project will be assessed based on sustainability.
Public interest and compliance with planning regulations before any final approval is made.
