GEORGE TOWN, May 14 — The Penang government is strengthening its youth, sports and healthcare agenda through several new strategic initiatives announced during the State Legislative Assembly sitting.
The state, through the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), is finalising a Strategic Youth Development Framework expected to be completed by July 2026.
Focusing on inclusive and sustainable youth empowerment. The state also expanded its Youth Development Fund allocation to RM200,000 this year.
While social impact assessments showed every RM1 invested in volunteer programmes generated RM11.80 in social value.
In sports, Penang is intensifying preparations for SUKMA Selangor 2026 with a target of 60 gold medals.
While efforts are underway to restructure football development through closer collaboration between the Penang State Sports Council, FAP and Penang FC.
In healthcare, the state raised concerns over rising cancer rates in Penang and urged greater participation in the PeKa B40 health screening programme.
Which currently benefits over 419,000 recipients statewide.
