KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 – Anthony Loke has criticised opposition to the government’s decision to allow Chinese Independent High School graduates and Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) holders.
Access to public universities, describing the backlash as an attempt to politicise education. He said expanding access to higher education should be viewed positively.
And questioned why some parties were objecting to efforts aimed at improving educational opportunities.
Loke said the initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to widen educational access and includes tahfiz graduates under the same framework.
He stressed that students must still meet requirements, including passing Bahasa Melayu and History at SPM level.
While arguing that opposing the move would deny students better opportunities for higher education.
