GEORGE TOWN, May 15 – Penang continued to strengthen its position as a key economic driver in Malaysia after recording RM32.9 billion in approved investments in 2025.
The state government said the strong performance was driven by high-value sectors including electrical and electronics (E&E), semiconductors and medical devices.
Authorities attributed the achievement to Penang’s established industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce, infrastructure readiness and strategic role in global supply chains.
Trade performance also remained robust, with Penang registering export values of RM573 billion and imports worth RM382 billion in 2025.
While specific trade breakdowns for Penang Port and Penang International Airport were unavailable, the figures reflected active commercial activity.
And reinforced Penang’s role as a regional and global hub for high-tech and value-added products.
