GEORGE TOWN, May 15 – The Penang state government has acknowledged that the RM15 million allocation set aside for hosting six sporting events during the 2027 SEA Games.
Will require careful management amid global economic challenges linked to the ongoing Asia West conflict.
State officials noted that while the allocation provides an initial foundation, it remains limited compared to the overall requirements for organising the events.
Authorities estimate that an additional RM5 million to RM10 million from public and private sectors may be needed to cover rising costs over the next 15 months.
Key expenses include accommodation, logistics, administration, technical operations, sports equipment procurement and unforeseen expenditures.
The additional funding is expected to ensure smooth preparations and successful delivery of Penang’s role in the Malaysia 2027 SEA Games.
