GEORGE TOWN, May 15 – Long-term traffic changes at the Jalan Tengah–Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah intersection will begin on May 16 and continue until Dec 31, 2028.
To facilitate bored pile, pile cap and structural works for the Penang Mutiara Line (PML) Light Rail Transit project.
The 24-hour traffic management plan, lasting about 960 days, aims to maintain free-flow traffic movement while supporting ongoing construction activities.
Motorists travelling from Jalan Tengah towards the airport will be redirected via a left slip lane and U-turn before Jalan Mahsuri.
While those heading from KOMTAR to Jalan Tengah must use a newly built U-turn near Renesas for light vehicles.
Alternative routes have also been introduced for access to Jalan Kampung Jawa from Jalan Tengah and the airport.
Authorities urged road users to follow traffic signs, with safety barriers, cones and flagmen deployed throughout the project period.
