KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia will not consider any pardon involving fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low.
Describing the matter as a “non-issue” as legal proceedings linked to him remain ongoing. Speaking in Seremban, Anwar stressed that the government was “not going that route”.
And said any decision by the United States regarding a pardon application would be left to Washington. Reports recently claimed Jho Low had submitted a pardon request to US President Donald Trump.
The US Department of Justice reportedly listed an application under his name as pending. Jho Low remains wanted over allegations of misappropriating US$4.5 billion.
From the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal and has remained at large for nearly a decade.
