GEORGE TOWN, May 17 – The Penang State Farmers’ Organisation (PPNPP) has urged the Penang state government to seriously consider a one-off RM1,000 special incentive for paddy farmers.
Following a proposal raised by Bertam assemblyman Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican. The organisation expressed appreciation for the state’s continued commitment.
To strengthening agriculture and safeguarding the welfare of farming communities. PPNPP said the targeted aid would help ease the burden faced by paddy farmers amid rising operational costs.
Including agricultural inputs, maintenance expenses and weather-related challenges affecting rice production.
Chairman Dato’ Haji Ismail Hj Umar stressed that strengthening the agri-food sector requires a comprehensive approach, including financial support.
Modern agricultural technology, productivity improvements and long-term welfare protection for farmers.
