SHAH ALAM, May 17 – Around 5,000 people, including leaders from Umno and PAS, gathered in Shah Alam in a rally held in solidarity with the Sultan of Selangor.

Amid recent controversies involving remarks on pig farming in the state. Participants, many dressed in yellow, assembled at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque before marching to the state secretariat building.

Among those present were Selangor PAS chief Ab Halim Tamuri and Selangor Umno chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.

The gathering followed criticism surrounding a proposal for a modern closed pig farming system, which some claimed contradicted the Sultan’s call to end pig farming in Selangor.

At the rally, Putra president Ibrahim Ali proposed a new law similar to the repealed Internal Security Act to protect the royal institution.

He suggested a Sovereignty of the Rulers Bill allowing temporary detention for investigations involving alleged insults against royalty, citing increasing cases targeting the institution.
