KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 — ASEAN Records Sdn Bhd has strongly defended its legitimacy following recent allegations against the organisation.
Stating it possesses official approvals from both the ASEAN Secretariat and the Malaysian government for the use of the “ASEAN” name.

The company said accusations made by parties including a group identified as Persatuan Pengguna Semenanjung Malaysia (PPSM) were false and unsupported.
Managing Director Gillian Ooi said ASEAN Records has evidence proving its legal standing and refuting recent claims circulated publicly.

The company further revealed that the Registrar of Societies Malaysia confirmed PPSM is not a registered entity.
ASEAN Records also said formal correspondence with the ASEAN Secretariat verified that a letter allegedly issued regarding the organisation was forged.

Police reports have since been lodged and investigations are ongoing. ASEAN Records said it remains committed to transparency.
And vowed legal action to protect its reputation, record holders and the integrity of its ASEAN-approved operations.
