GEORGE TOWN, May 20 — Malaysia is expected to record positive Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth as investment inflows continue to strengthen, according to Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

He said the country posted a strong 5.4 per cent GDP growth in the first quarter of 2026, supported by rising foreign direct investment (FDI), domestic direct investment (DDI) and robust public spending.

Amir Hamzah said investor confidence remains high due to Malaysia’s strong economic ecosystem, particularly in the northern region.

He added that government-linked investment companies and GLCs are also expanding local investments.

While growth in artificial intelligence and data centre industries continues to create opportunities, generate jobs and support higher spending within the economy.
