GEORGE TOWN, May 20 — Penang will deploy enforcement officers with body cameras and introduce round-the-clock monitoring under its new Community Service Order (PKM) scheme.
Targeting littering offences starting July 1, state officials said. The initiative aims to strengthen evidence collection and improve enforcement transparency.
State exco H’ng Mooi Lye said at least 170 body cameras will be used by MBPP and MBSP officers during operations, alongside video and CCTV evidence.
Offenders may face fines of up to RM2,000 or be ordered to perform community service, including cleaning public areas.
The move is intended to promote civic responsibility and improve public cleanliness across the state.
